Installation Checklist for Color World Printers’ InSite Server on a PC
Complete this checklist prior to Color World Printers installation and training session at your site. InSite is an on-line job management service that provides file transfer, on-line proofing, page change management and on-line collaboration. The Prepare application does not run on the PC so you will be using Adobe standard products to create a PDF.
Use this checklist on each machine at your location. If any questions, please call Mike Burgard at 800-332-3303. Please fax the completed checklist back to Color World Printers at 406-587-0628. Once completed, we will schedule the installation and training.
Basic Configuration
1. Does your computer hardware meet the minimum configuration?
o PC 400 MHz or faster
o RAM 64 MB or greater
2. Are you running one of these operating Systems?
o Windows 98 (NO Windows 95 or ME)
o Windows NT or 2000
o Windows XP Pro or Home
3. Do you have a supported browser installed?
o Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (Check Help About) Do not use Netscape or Mozilla.
4. Is your Browser configured with these settings?
o Cookies Enabled (Tools- Internet Options-Privacy-Advanced). Default is cookies enabled.
o Javascript Enabled
5. Do you have broadband Internet connection?
o DSL 256 kb or faster
o Cable Modem, T-1 or Wireless Broadband
o Speed: ____________
o Vendor: _______________
Java Support and Compatibility Testing
Color World Printers InSite server only supports the Java virtual machine and not the Microsoft Java VM (virtual machine). All PCs ship with the Microsoft version and must be replaced. These instructions will walk you through installation simply and easily. It only takes about 15 minutes or less.
o Close all applications
o Disable any automatic virus detection software
o Open your browser
o Go to proof.colorworldprinters.com
o A login page appears. Immediately below the Password is a link to “Troubleshooting” Click it.
o A test program will run and determine your system’s compatibility to Java and InSite.
o At this point, every item should be OK down to the Java list. If it shows you are running Microsoft Java, follow the following steps.
o Click on the link under Java on the screen.
o Download the program by Opening a new window into the Sun Java web site.
o Download and open the file (Avoid running the installer online)
o Run the Java installer program.
o Once complete, check your browser (Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, scroll down to Java (Sun). It should be checked. Microsoft VM will still be installed but all three boxes should be unchecked.
o If your troubleshooting page says it cannot determine what Java is running, it is highly likely you have an older version of Java. Follow these steps.
o Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Software. Find Sun Java (ver 1.3.x or before)
o Select Remove software
o Follow prompts to remove.
o Go to your download folder and reinstall the new Java.
o Rerun the troubleshooting page diagnostic.
