MAC Installation Checklist for Color World Printers’ Prepare and InSite Server

 

Please complete this checklist before Color World Printers installs the InSite server at your site. InSite is an on-line job management service that provides file transfer, on-line proofing, and on-line collaboration. Use this checklist for each machine you want to use. If any questions, please call Mike Burgard at 800-332-3303. Please fax the checklist back to Color World Printers at 406-587-0628.

 

Basic Configuration

1. Does your computer hardware meet the minimum configuration?

o                                                   Mac – G-4 or faster

o                                                   RAM – 64 MB or greater

 

2. Are you running one of these operating Systems?

o                                                   MAC 9.2.2 or higher (NOT 9.0.x – It will not work)

o                                                   MAC 10.2.8 or higher - Jaguar

o                                                   MAC 10.3 or higher – Panther (Preferred)

 

3. Do you have a supported browser installed?

o                                                   MAC 9.2.2 –Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x.

o                                                   MAC 10.2 or 10.3  - Safari (Preferred) or IE 5.x

 

4. Is your Browser configured with these settings?

o                                                   Cookies Enabled. Default is cookies enabled.

o                                                   Javascript Enabled (default)

o                                                   Block Pop-ups Turned Off (Found in  “Safari, Block Pop-ups”) (Java scripts are pop-ups so you must be able to see pop-ups to use Java)

 

5. Using the correct version of Adobe Distiller and Acrobat? (Must have)

o                                                   MAC 9.2.2 - Distiller 4.0 or 5.0 and Acrobat 5.0

o                                                   MAC 10.x - Acrobat Professional 5.0 or 6.0. (NOT 4)

 

6. Are you using supported Applications?

o                                                   Quark – 4.0, 5.x or 6.x

o                                                   InDesign – 2.2 or 3.x (NOT 1.5)

o                                                   Illustrator – 9.x or 10.x or 11

 

6. Do you have broadband Internet connection?

o                                                   DSL – 256 kb or faster

o                                                   Cable Modem, T-1 or Wireless Broadband

o                                                   Speed: ____________


JAVA Install and Operations

 

Color World Printers InSite server supports the MAC with various configurations of Java. The troubleshooting icon on our InSite URL will help you work through the configuration. In general, MAC OS 9.x uses the Apple Java (MRJ 2.2.5) and Mac 10.x uses Java from Sun and Apple (Java 1.4.1). These instructions walk you through it simply and easily.

 

o               Open your browser

o               Go to proof.colorworldprinters.com (NO www!)

o               A login page appears. Immediately below the Password box is a link to “Troubleshooting”. Click this link.

o               A test program will determine your system’s compatibility.

o               MAC 9.2.2 or higher

o       If there is an error, the test will tell you.

o      At the bottom, it tells what MRJ is running. (Machine Real-time Java)

o      If your Machine does not have Apple MRJ 2.2.5, there will be a link to a website where it can be downloaded.

o      Click on the link.

o      Download and follow the install directions

o      Reboot and rerun the troubleshooting script

o               MAC 10.2 or MAC 10.3.

o       The Mac ships with Java 1.4.1.01.

o       It is possible you will get an error even though you have the correct Java.

o       The correct version is 69 (10.2) or 99 (10.3). If it says this, you are ok, regardless of any other error message.

o       If your Mac is an older machine and you upgraded to 10.3.2, it is possible you do not have the most recent version of Java.

o               Let Color World Printers know of any other errors on the troubleshooting page.

o               Rerun the troubleshooting page if in doubt about any configurations.

 

Your machine(s) are now ready for installation and training. Please fax this completed sheet back to CW or email us at mikeb@colorworldprinters.com  to indicate you have completed the checklist.
